St.Brigid's Well at Hartwell Stud

Hartwell Stud is home to one of Kildare's renowned St. Brigid's holy wells, where the name 'Hart' symbolizes a stag and 'well' signifies a natural spring.

St.Brigid's Well at Hartwell Stud
This sacred site was visited by St. Brigid during her pilgrimage across Ireland in the 500s AD. These sites are often accompanied by hawthorn trees, linked to pagan rituals of bringing offerings to the Saint or the spirit of the well asking for healing, good health, and good luck. Each year on St. Brigid's Day, February 1st, visitors honor this tradition by tying ribbons, rags, or items of clothing as offerings, keeping the spirit of Old Irish traditions alive to this day.
